The Safety Fire Stick
We are pleased to announce our new partnership with the manufacturers of the Fire Safety Stick. But what exactly is it?
The Fire Safety Stick is a lightweight, portable solid state fire extinguisher which provides over 50 seconds or 100 seconds (model dependent) of fire extinguishing time. Compare this to the 7 seconds of fire fighting time afforded by a regular 1kg fire extinguisher and you really begin to see the benefits multiply.
For many years, fire safety relied on regular inspections and regular replacement of fire safety equipment. This was not only time consuming but also often costly, perhaps even leading to some complacency and corner cutting. Fortunately, with the creation of the Fire Safety Stick, coverage has now become a much more affordable and cost effective prospect. This is partially due to the 15 year shelf life of the Fire Safety Stick and the fact that annual inspection and maintenance is not required* (but may still be required by legislation/insurance requirements). The FSS will not depressurize and has no gages to contend with and no corrosive mess or residue is created both during and after use.
Another major advantage of the Fire Safety Stick is its portability, making it a more convenient choice for automotive/vehicular use and stowage in general. The Fire Safety Stick 100 only weighs 400 grams and can still provide over 100 seconds of extinguishing time. Its light weight nature is another advantage of the system.
Further benefits; the Fire Safety Stick can be used to control Class A, B, C and F fires as well as electrical fires up to 100,000 volts. Compare this to traditional extinguishers which would require a separate, heavy, dedicated unit for each class of fire. This equates to potentially massive savings whilst not compromising on actual fire safety.
Ease of use; Just as easy to use as a regular extinguisher ->
- Remove and discard the yellow top cap, exposing the black resin tip at the top of the Fire Safety Stick, hold by the handle.
- Remove and keep hold of the bottom end striker cap from the lower part of the handle. Make sure to point the top of the Fire Safety Stick away from the body.
- With the brown rough striking surface of the striker cap, put it in contact with the black resin tip, strike across the black tip with the striker cap, with a flick, same as you would when striking a matchstick.
- Discharge will begin immediately after ignition. Point the aerosol jet at the source of the flame until completion.
If uncomfortable about fighting the fire, activate it, and leave it in the confined area while you escape. The Fire Safety Stick will continue to repress and potentially slow the fire in your absence.
Use case scenarios:
- Automotive
- Domestic
- Emergency services
- Aviation
- Agricultural
- Racing
Essentially, anywhere there is a risk of fire, the FSS can be a life saving accessory .It is also great for any scenario where space and weight are at a premium.
