The Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

Although a relatively modern build, the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre has quickly established itself as a high quality entertainments venue.

In 2003, Aylesbury Vale District Council decided to replace the existing Civic Centre Theatre. After analysing several tenders, the project was commissioned to London based architect Norman Bragg.

There was a small ceremony to mark the commencement of building on the 24th May 2007. The Aylesbury born actress Lynda Bellingham demarked the completion of the highest point of the building work (known as a traditional "topping out" ceremony). The theatre was then officially opened by iconic 60's singer Cilla Black on 12th October 2010.

Since opening, the Aylesbury has housed thousands of different performances ranging from classical theatre to musical and pantomime. The specially designed acoustics system provides a memorable audio experience whether you are listening to choral music or spoken word.

The Aylesbury has hosted hundreds of famous names including David Suchet, Jimmy Carr and many more. You can find a wide variety of performances ranging from Broadway musicals, stand up comedy, pantomime, plays, musical performances, film screenings and more.

Much more than just a theatre, the multi-functional venue can accommodate conferences, meetings, live screenings and more intimate performances in the Second Space, alongside weddings, workshops and art exhibitions.

One can also find the "Waterside Cafe" in the premises, which serves food daily from 12 noon and also doubles as the bar during performances.
