The Capitol Theatre - Horsham

The Capitol Theatre - Horsham

Founded 27th November 1923

Opened by Lady Burrel. First screened silent movies and was generally used as a cinema combined with a theatre space. Since then, the Capitol has undergone several facelifts. Most recently, it took the form of an Arts Centre which enjoyed twenty years of success until its closure in 2002. It was then reopened in October of 2003 by HM Elizabeth II as a 400 seat theatre and also included a studio theatre, two cinema screens, a gallery space, a meeting room, a café and lounge bar.

The Capitol now plays host to a varied programme ranging from classical plays, stand-up comedians, modern and classic dance. All in all a great venue for contemporary art, music and theatre.

Interestingly, the Capitol also works with the Chichester Festival Youth Theatre to promote their Youth Theatre Group which runs weekly sessions at the Capitol Theatre.
